TAIPEI, Taiwan, January 7, 2020 — ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today announced ROG Swift PG43UQ and ROG Strix XG27UQ, the world’s first gaming monitors to support Display Stream Compression (DSC) technology. This empowers the new displays to deliver 4K resolution at refresh rates of up to 144 Hz for super-smooth and high-quality visuals. Both monitors are also engineered to be NVIDIA® G-SYNC™ Compatible, enabling seamless, tear-free gaming experiences.

Display Stream Compression: No-compromise 4K gaming at 144 Hz via a single connection

Display Stream Compression technology is an industry-wide compression standard for transporting ultra-high-definition video streams across a single interface at high speed with no perceptible loss of visual quality. With DSC technology built in, both ROG Swift PG43UQ and ROG Strix XG27UQ are able to display incredibly detailed and smooth visuals at native 4K resolutions with a 144 Hz refresh rate via a single DisplayPort 1.4 connection — and without resorting to chroma subsampling that negatively affects visual fidelity.

To achieve this level of performance without DSC, gaming monitors need two DisplayPort connections to transfer the video signal from the PC. This typically requires complex driver configuration and prevents display of high-dynamic-range (HDR) content and variable refresh rates while gaming. The new ROG displays eliminate all these issues, supporting both HDR and variable refresh rates via a single DisplayPort 1.4 connection.

ROG Swift PG43UQ: Anti-glare display, easy controls and awesome audio for big-screen thrills

ROG Swift PG43UQ is the world’s first 43-inch gaming monitor with DSC technology to deliver smooth, 4K visuals at up to 144 Hz with a 1 ms MPRT response time. It features HDR technology with 90% DCI‑P3 professional color gamut coverage and exceptional contrast for DisplayHDR™ 1000 certification, plus certified support for NVIDIA G-SYNC technology. Swift PG43UQ also includes GameFast Input technology for more responsive, lag-free control that heightens the gameplay experience and hands gamers an edge against their opponents.

With its expansive panel, Swift PG43UQ creates big-screen gaming experiences for deeper immersion, and without sacrificing the high- or variable-refresh-rate technologies usually found only in smaller displays. The display also has an anti-glare finish to make it easier to resolve detail in diverse indoor lighting conditions, and even through changing illumination levels.

With big-screen entertainment in mind, Swift PG43UQ includes an intuitive remote control to enable easy adjustment from a distance — perfect for changing settings from the comfort of a sofa or gaming chair.

A pair of robust 10 W stereo speakers with ASUS SonicMaster technology ensure that Swift PG43UQ is primed to serve up incredible audio fidelity, for aural experiences that are a perfect match for the display’s visual finesse.

ROG Strix XG27UQ: Ultra-smooth 4K visuals on a 27-inch display

ROG Strix XG27UQ is the world’s first 27-inch gaming monitor with DSC so, like ROG Swift PG43UQ, it is able to deliver smooth, 4K visuals at up to 144 Hz with 1 ms MPRT response time. The display is also NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible ready, and is DisplayHDR 400 certified — featuring exceptional contrast and 90% DCI-P3 professional color gamut coverage.
